EPA Watershed Academy — Free Webinars, Modules & Certification
Program Summary
EPA's free, no-registration online training catalog covering watershed management fundamentals: webcasts, self-paced modules, live webinars, and a self-paced Watershed Management Training Certificate.
Full Description
The EPA Watershed Academy is a free online training catalog covering essentially every topic a watershed group needs to understand: watershed planning fundamentals, the Clean Water Act and 303(d) impaired waters process, TMDL development, nonpoint source pollution control, stormwater management, source water protection, climate adaptation for watersheds, monitoring program design, and stakeholder engagement. The catalog includes recorded webcasts (most under an hour), self-paced HTML training modules with quizzes, and a live webinar series that runs monthly with new topics. None of it requires registration or payment, and most resources include downloadable PDFs of slide decks and supporting documents. For groups that want a credential, the Watershed Academy offers a self-paced Watershed Management Training Certificate awarded after completion of a defined curriculum of core modules. For new H2O member organizations, the Watershed Academy is the cheapest, fastest way to onboard staff and board members who need to understand how the federal water quality regulatory system actually works — which is most of them. It pairs naturally with River Network's grassroots-focused training and PRWA's operator-focused training.
