Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM)

Volunteer water quality monitoring support program based at Dickinson College, providing training, equipment loans, and technical assistance to PA watershed groups.

ALLARM is a unique university-community partnership based at Dickinson College that supports volunteer water quality monitoring throughout Pennsylvania. Services include monitoring plan development, training workshops, equipment calibration and loans, data analysis support, and QA/QC protocols. ALLARM is particularly known for its work helping communities monitor for shale gas impacts. Watershed groups contact ALLARM to set up new monitoring programs or strengthen existing ones. ALLARM staff bring academic rigor and ensure data meets standards for DEP reporting and advocacy purposes. Workshops are typically free and available throughout the year. ALLARM also runs a summer research experience for undergraduate students.
