Program Summary

User-friendly EPA tool showing water quality status, impairment information, and drinking water data for any location in the United States.

Full Description

How's My Waterway is EPA's interactive tool designed for non-technical users to quickly understand water quality conditions at any location. Users type in a ZIP code or address and see nearby streams, their impairment status under the Clean Water Act, and drinking water quality information for the local utility. Data is sourced from the Assessment, TMDL Tracking and Implementation System (ATTAINS) and state reporting. The tool is excellent for community outreach, helping residents understand the water quality issues affecting their area. Watershed groups use How's My Waterway screenshots in grant applications, educational materials, and public testimony. The State Overview feature provides a high-level summary of Pennsylvania's water quality status and trends.
