Program Summary

Official FEMA portal for accessing Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), Letters of Map Change, and flood risk data for any U.S. address.

Full Description

The FEMA Flood Map Service Center provides free access to official Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), which show designated flood hazard areas for flood insurance and floodplain management purposes. Users search by address, map panel, or community and download current effective maps as well as preliminary and historical versions. Letters of Map Amendment and Letters of Map Revision are also available. Watershed groups use FEMA maps to identify flood-prone areas, plan restoration projects, and support community resilience work. Understanding the 100-year and 500-year floodplain boundaries is essential for placement of green infrastructure, stream restoration, and community education. FEMA also maintains the National Flood Hazard Layer GIS data for advanced users.
