USDA Rural Development Solid Waste Management Grants

Grants for organizations providing technical assistance or training that reduces or eliminates pollution of water resources from solid waste sites in rural areas.

This nationally competitive USDA program funds organizations that deliver technical assistance or training to improve planning and management of solid waste sites in rural communities of 10,000 or less. Eligible work includes evaluating landfill conditions for threats to water resources, improving operation and maintenance of active landfills, helping communities reduce waste volumes, and preparing for landfill closure and future site use. Funds cannot be used for capital assets, construction, or operations. The application window runs October 1 through December 31 each year, with the NOFO posted to Grants.gov when it opens.
