USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service

grant

Program Summary

A partner-driven program in which NRCS enters agreements with eligible organizations to leverage resources for high-priority wetland protection and restoration.

Full Description

WREP is a voluntary program through which NRCS enters into agreements with eligible partners to leverage resources for high-priority wetland protection, restoration, and enhancement and to improve wildlife habitat. Unlike straight Wetland Reserve Easements, WREP is partner-driven, which means nonprofits and conservation districts can propose and co-lead a targeted wetland project area rather than simply referring individual landowners. For an organization that wants to originate a wetland restoration initiative in a specific drainage, this is the more accessible entry point.
