CIG is a competitive program supporting development of new tools, approaches, practices, and technologies that advance natural resource conservation on private lands. Projects frequently target water quality, nutrient reduction, and edge-of-field practices, which makes CIG a strong fit for organizations piloting new watershed or stormwater approaches that do not fit standard practice standards. CIG runs as both national and state-level competitions, so Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia each have their own CIG opportunities through their NRCS State Offices.
