EPA Environmental Justice Government-to-Government Program (EJG2G)

The EPA Environmental Justice Government-to-Government (EJG2G) Program funds projects that produce measurable environmental and public health improvements in communities disproportionately burdened by environmental harms. Awards support partnerships between government agencies and community-based organizations on water quality monitoring, source water protection, drinking water access, sewer and stormwater equity, and addressing legacy contamination.Eligible applicants are state and local governments, federally recognized tribes, and US territories — but the program explicitly requires partnership with community-based nonprofits, which is the opening for grassroots watershed groups to be the on-the-ground delivery partner.For SW PA watershed groups working in Mon Valley fenceline communities, post-industrial Pittsburgh neighborhoods, or rural EJ communities affected by AMD or fracking, EJG2G is a strong fit.
