EPA Watershed Index Online (WSIO)
Program Summary
A national watershed indicator data library and comparative analysis tool for ranking and screening watersheds within a user-defined area.
Full Description
WSIO lets users build a custom watershed comparison by selecting a geographic area and choosing from several hundred ecological, stressor, and social indicators measured at the HUC12 scale, roughly 35 square miles on average, across the lower 48 states. The tool auto-calculates ecological, stressor, and social indicator scores plus a combined Watershed Index score and generates ranked lists, graphs, and maps suitable for reports and grant narratives. Pre-made statewide Recovery Potential Screening spreadsheets with 207 indicators pre-loaded are available for each state including Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Supporting materials include an overview, an indicator metadata document, and a user manual.
