The Pennsylvania Spatial Data Access (PASDA) clearinghouse, hosted by Penn State and operated in partnership with the Pennsylvania Office of Administration, is the Commonwealth's official public GIS data clearinghouse. PASDA distributes thousands of spatial datasets covering hydrology (streams, watersheds, lakes, wetlands), land cover and land use, conservation and protected lands, environmental impairments and impaired water bodies, oil and gas wells, abandoned mines, geology, soils, infrastructure, parcels, and political boundaries.For watershed groups, PASDA is the right starting point for any GIS analysis or map-based grant application. Most data is available for free download in shapefile, geodatabase, or KMZ format with no registration required. Many datasets are also exposed through web map services that can be consumed directly in ArcGIS Online, QGIS, or web map platforms — useful if your group already has a GIS workflow or wants to embed dynamic maps in a website.PASDA also publishes data from federal sources reformatted for Pennsylvania use, plus regular updates from PA DEP, DCNR, Game Commission, Fish & Boat Commission, and county-level GIS shops.
