POWR Interactive GIS Map of Pennsylvania Watershed Organizations

business

Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers (POWR)

map

Program Summary

An interactive ArcGIS map of Pennsylvania's community watershed organizations, alliances, and coalitions with their service areas.

Full Description

POWR maintains an interactive GIS-based map of Pennsylvania's known community watershed organizations, watershed alliances and coalitions, and other organizations whose missions include water resource conservation, restoration, and education. The tool is built to help groups connect with potential regional partners for restoration projects of any scale, help residents find volunteer opportunities with nearby organizations, and help funders and coalitions evaluate potential alliances and spot geographic gaps where new organizing would strengthen regional water protection. Users can toggle basemaps and layers, click a location to see every organization serving that area in the info panel, and search within a specific layer or across all layers. POWR treats the map as a work in progress and asks organizations to email corrections if their group is missing or if the mapped service area does not match their actual area of work. For H2O this is a practical partner-finding tool across the Pennsylvania portion of the Ohio River headwaters.
