Full Description
The Statewide Waterway Access Grant (SWAG) program is administered by the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers in partnership with the PA Fish and Boat Commission and the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Now in its fourth year, SWAG provides mini-grants of up to $30,000 for community-led projects that enhance public access to Pennsylvania rivers and streams for non-motorized boating, fishing, and other recreation, while also advancing conservation, stewardship, and community engagement. Eligible project types include acquisition, planning, design and engineering, portage, construction, and the upgrade or rehabilitation of non-motorized public access points. Proposals require a 1:1 match in cash, in-kind services, or a combination. POWR provides administration, technical assistance, application guidance, project review, and reporting support. Since inception SWAG has funded more than 20 projects statewide. Applications are submitted through the Pennsylvania Environmental Council online grant platform at pecpa.org/apply.
