WREP is a voluntary program through which NRCS enters into agreements with eligible partners to leverage resources for high-priority wetland protection, restoration, and enhancement and to improve wildlife habitat. Unlike straight Wetland Reserve Easements, WREP is partner-driven, which means nonprofits and conservation districts can propose and co-lead a targeted wetland project area rather than simply referring individual landowners.
