The Citizens Coal Council is a national coalition of grassroots groups working on the environmental and community impacts of coal mining, with particular emphasis on water quality issues from both active and abandoned mines. CCC provides advocacy support, technical assistance, and a network for groups dealing with mine drainage, subsidence, and permit challenges.For SW PA watershed groups dealing with abandoned mine drainage (AMD) — a major regional water quality challenge — CCC offers advocacy training, peer support from other coalfield communities, and connection to legal and technical experts.Especially relevant for groups in Greene, Washington, Fayette, Somerset, and Westmoreland counties.
