PA DEP Permit Navigator

Free online tool launched October 9, 2026 that lists the DEP permits a project may need based on its location, type and planned activities.

The Permit Navigator asks where a project is located, whether it is residential, agricultural or industrial, and what activities it involves, then lists potential DEP permits and requirements with explanations and fees. It does not make a final determination on whether a permit is required and does not cover local municipal approvals. It complements DEP's Permit Tracker and won a 2026 Environmental Council of the States State Program Innovation Award. Watershed groups planning stream restoration, AMD treatment or stormwater projects can use it as an early scoping step.
