Pennsylvania Envirothon

Statewide environmental education competition for middle and high school students covering aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and current issues including water quality.

The PA Envirothon is the largest environmental education program for Pennsylvania high school students, engaging thousands of teenagers each year through hands-on learning and team competition. Teams study five core topic areas — aquatic ecology, forestry, soils/land use, wildlife, and a current environmental issue — and compete at county, regional, and state levels. Schools and conservation districts partner to coach teams, often using the competition as the backbone of an environmental science curriculum. Watershed organizations can support their local Envirothon by hosting training sessions, providing study materials, or sponsoring teams. The state competition winner advances to the North American Envirothon.
