WEF Stockholm Junior Water Prize — USA Competition

Prestigious international research competition for high school students working on water science and conservation projects.

The Stockholm Junior Water Prize is the world's most prestigious youth award for water-related research, open to high school students ages 15–20. The U.S. competition is administered by the Water Environment Federation and its state chapters. Students submit original research projects on water quality, water resources, aquatic ecosystems, or water treatment technology. State winners advance to the national competition held each June, and the U.S. national winner represents the country in Stockholm at World Water Week. Past Pennsylvania state winners have researched topics including stream macroinvertebrates, stormwater bioretention, and agricultural runoff. Watershed organizations can encourage student participation by mentoring research projects.
