Delaware Riverkeeper Network
Program Summary
Watchdog organization defending the Delaware River watershed through legal action, monitoring, and grassroots advocacy.
Full Description
The Delaware Riverkeeper Network is the designated Waterkeeper Alliance affiliate for the Delaware River and its tributaries. DRN combines water quality monitoring, permit review, litigation, and community organizing to defend the watershed from pollution and development threats. The organization has been particularly active on shale gas, pipeline, and PFAS issues affecting eastern Pennsylvania. DRN provides free or low-cost assistance to citizen groups facing local pollution threats, including guidance on permit comments, sample collection for water testing, and referrals to legal counsel when needed. The Riverkeeper team also publishes advocacy toolkits and petitions for public participation in regulatory decisions.
