Groundwork USA — Environmental Trust Network
Program Summary
Network of local environmental trusts working on community-based brownfield redevelopment, urban waterway restoration, and equitable environmental planning.
Full Description
Groundwork USA is a national organization supporting a network of local Groundwork Trusts that work on community-driven environmental and economic regeneration projects. Much of the work focuses on brownfield redevelopment and urban waterway restoration in disinvested neighborhoods. While there are no current Pennsylvania affiliates, the national organization offers planning tools, training, and mentoring for communities pursuing similar work. Groundwork USA's Climate Safe Neighborhoods initiative maps heat vulnerability and flood risk in urban areas, providing a framework for environmental justice watershed work. Small urban watershed groups can use Groundwork resources to integrate environmental justice, public health, and economic opportunity into their programming. The organization also supports youth environmental employment programs (Green Team) that could model local watershed youth engagement.
