Full Description

The Penn State Center for Dirt and Gravel Road Studies provides research, training, and technical support for Pennsylvania's nationally-recognized Dirt, Gravel, and Low Volume Road Maintenance Program (DGLVR), administered through County Conservation Districts. The Center develops best practices for reducing sediment runoff from unpaved roads, a major source of nonpoint pollution in many PA watersheds.Watershed groups working with County Conservation Districts on stream sediment issues should know about the Center as a free technical resource for road site assessments, BMP design, and project documentation. The DGLVR program funds millions in road improvements annually, often in remote forested watersheds.
