River Network Online Learning Platform (Self-Paced Training Series)
Program Summary
River Network's self-paced training catalog, covering the Clean Water Act, drinking water, State Revolving Fund advocacy, community trust building, and green gentrification.
Full Description
River Network moved much of its training onto a self-paced online platform, which solves the perennial problem that volunteer-run watershed groups cannot send someone to a live webinar at 2:00 PM on a Tuesday. The catalog currently includes the Clean Water Act Training Series, the Drinking Water Guide Training Series, the State Revolving Fund Advocacy Training Series, the Building Blocks of Trust series on relationships between community organizations and water utilities, and a series added in late 2025 on community-centered solutions for green gentrification and displacement. Courses are modular, can be taken in any order, and are designed for staff and board members of river and watershed organizations rather than for technical specialists. River Network also keeps a large library of recorded learning sessions on board development, strategic planning, nonprofit budgeting, racial equity, and multi-stakeholder collaboratives, all free to access. Network membership unlocks additional benefits but a free account is available.
