Freshwater Future provides small project grants ($500–$10,000) to grassroots organizations working on water protection throughout the Great Lakes basin, including Lake Erie watershed portions of northwestern Pennsylvania. Typical projects include community education campaigns, water monitoring, advocacy work, and capacity-building initiatives. Mini-grants emphasize quick turnaround and low-barrier application. Decisions are typically made within 6-8 weeks of submission. Groups without 501(c)(3) status can apply through fiscal sponsorship. Freshwater Future also offers coaching calls and strategy support alongside the financial award.
