PA DEP AML/AMD Grant Program: 2026 Round 2 (Applications Due November 30, 2026)
Program Summary
The second 2026 application round of PA DEP's Abandoned Mine Land and Abandoned Mine Drainage Grant Program is open October 5 through November 30, 2026, with at least $44 million available for AML reclamation, AMD treatment, and AMD operation and maintenance.
Full Description
DEP's Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation runs the AML/AMD Grant Program in two rounds for 2026, with at least $88 million total. Round 2 opened October 5, 2026 and closes at 11:59 p.m. on November 30, 2026. Minimum amounts available in Round 2: $15 million for AML reclamation, $5 million for AMD operation and maintenance or replacement of existing treatment systems, $10 million for new AMD treatment facilities, and $14 million for AMLER-related projects (AMLER funding depends on continued federal appropriations). Funding comes from IIJA, AMLER, and SMCRA Title IV. No match is required and payments are reimbursement-based, with a performance period of up to three years. Davis-Bacon and Build America, Buy America apply. Important: applicants must have requested an Initial Project Consultation (IPC) with BAMR by August 21, 2026 and held it before the round opened, so this round is open only to applicants who completed that step. Groups that missed it should request an IPC now for the 2027 rounds. AMD projects need at least one year of water monitoring data and an AMDTreat report. Applications are submitted through the Commonwealth's Electronic Single Application (ESA) system. This is a fresh application round for the AML/AMD program already in the library.
